an experimental neuroscience outreach initiative based in Quebec

What is Brain Craft?

Brain Craft is a Quebec-based outreach initiative that aims to introduce young people to the fun and excitement of neuroscience research. In doing so, we hope to encourage the next generation of neuroscientists. Our activities are aimed at Indigenous youth living in underserved and remote parts of Quebec, but the detailed plans of our workshops will be made freely and openly available online.

What do we offer?

We plan to offer full-day and half-day workshops, suitable for 12-18 year olds. Each workshop is based around a neuroscience experiment, and includes designing, performing, analyzing, and presenting results from an experiment. While focused on  neuroscience, each workshop will teach a number of widely applicable skills: coding, electronics and microcontrollers, 3D printing, data analysis, and public speaking. Stay tuned for more!

Who are we?

We are neuroscientists working in Montreal. Arjun Krishnaswamy is a Canada Research Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at McGill University. Rudi Tong is a postdoctoral fellow at the Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University. Stuart Trenholm is a Canada Research Chair and Associate Professor at the Montreal Neurological Institute at McGill University. Maria Haddad works at adMare BioInnovations.

Brain Craft is only possible thanks to our funding sources
